# Why Could My Card Not Be Verified?

If TUIO says your card could not be verified while you are adding it, check the card details and billing address before trying again. This message can occur even when your card issuer says the card is active or an authorization was approved.

### Why verification can fail

Card verification can include an address check (AVS) and a security-code check (CVV/CVC) using the responses returned by your card issuer. An approved authorization does not necessarily mean those checks matched or that TUIO could save the card.

### What to check

1. **Billing address:** use the address held by your card issuer. Check the street number, apartment or suite number, postal or ZIP code and country. If you recently moved, confirm which address the issuer has on file. Ask the issuer how the address should be entered if the format is unclear.
2. **Card details:** check the card number, expiry date and security code. Use the details for the same card.
3. **Autofill:** clear any automatically filled details and enter them manually. Your browser may have saved an old address, an expired card or a virtual card number.
4. **Virtual cards:** if you are using a virtual number, use its matching expiry date and security code. Check that it is active and usable with this merchant. If it still fails, try your physical card details or another accepted card.

### If it still does not work

Trying another accepted card can be the quickest way to continue. If you want to use the original card, ask its issuer to check the billing-address and security-code verification results, not just whether the authorization was approved.

Contact TUIO Support if the problem continues. Include the exact error message, when it happened, your school name and the browser or device you used. Do not send your full card number or security code.
